This workshop will introduce you to the philosophical
foundations of yoga: samkhya. Topics to be addressed include
historical and philosophical contexts; the samkhya model of the
universe and of consciousness; the concepts of purusha and prakriti;
the theory of the gunas; and the elements that make up the mind,
body, and nature.
To aid your understanding and integration of these important
concepts, this workshop will progress through lecture and discussion
to reflection and meditation, and then to application and yoga
practice. There will be time to explore how the tenets of samkhya
philosophy inform your yoga practice, and how this knowledge can
enhance both your practice and your life.
